What To Bring

  • Laptops
  • All the chargers/cables/dongles you'll need
  • Cameras - still or video
  • An idea for a session/presentation/talk
  • Presents for the organisers ;)

What We'll Provide

  • A venue!
  • Wifi (and a few wired connections)
  • Food & Drink
  • Projectors, screens, whiteboards & PA systems for presenters

"NOTE: if anyone presenting needs anything specific from the network please can you let us know by contacting any of the organisers ASAP so we can ensure the right ports are opened. The default setup is a little limited but with notice we'll be able to accommodate your needs."

Accessibility

  • Old Broadcasting House is newly refitted and entirely wheelchair accessible.

Proposed/Desired Sessions

  • Add proposed topics here. The schedule is decided on the day, by the people there, so this is by no means final! Also feel free to leave ideas for topics you'd like to see.
  • Your proposed session - You!
  • "nanofunding" - an idea that's been kicking around for a while - a 'dinner club' of microinvestors (£50-£100 donation) to assess ideas and kickstart projects via a monthly £1000 grant awarded to awesome projects in the region (Imran Ali & Guy Dickinson) - an open conversation on feasibility, ideas and next steps...
  • RISK (the board game) - fancy playing and geeking out over Risk on Saturday? Bring along your boardgame version, iPad clones (other computing devices are available!) and generally geekout. Need some ideas aboutgameplay hacks to reduce the time-to-play. (Dave Verwer and Guy Dickinson)
  • Future of Reading? An open conversation revisiting some of the themes I'd discovered when researching last year's 'future of reading' Ignite talk, and looking at what's changed over the last year? - iPad, social reading, beta books, etc... (Guy Dickinson)
  • Lazy Apps - lets get together and think about all those wonderful apps or websites that should exist but don't. Maybe a few of us will feel inspired to take on the development of some, maybe we'll get side tracked thinking about future technologies. (Alice Kaerast)
  • Nonprofit-Technologies  / Charity Camp - Lets have a chat about how we're using technology in the non-profit world, where we get our funding from, and help each other solve issues we're collectively or individually facing.  It'd also be awesome to start organising a weekend where we can get a load of developers and charities together, and come out with something useful. (Alice Kaerast)
  • HTML5 On Trial - The group will be judge and jury as we put each of HTML5's major features in the dock, charged with irrelevance and out-of-scope-ism. Some will be easier to defend than others. Unlike the standards committees, our time is limited so justice must be swift. (Sam Foster)
  • Making Electricity -  I'm preparing a talk giving a low-down on renewable energy, all the mad schemes from kites to cows complete with the maths and science of being able to live off-grid. (Jonathan Powell)
