Let's get going

In the spirit of BarCampBankSeattle, let's hold a BarCampBank in New England. We're holding the event at America's Credit Union Museum, which is on the site of the first CU founded in the United States. Let's discuss the current revolution in personal finance where the credit union revolution in personal finance began 99 years ago.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering (or un-conference) born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions and interaction from attendees. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join. Attendance will be free or a nominal charge, but all are expected to participate and/or present. You can participate by giving a presentation, demo, or joining into another cooperative event, being on a panel/roundtable, or in other ways helping out on event day.

Topics I would like to hear about

  • managing organic-growth and buy-in from an internal perspective (how to keep the right senior admin in the loop, how IT can stay happy with employees going outside the wall, and the balance between process tools and communication/collab environments for getting staff onboard)
  • would also love to talk about the sharepoint phenom and how to stand up to an IT department that will inevitably choose this due to lack of time and human resources?
  • Innovation within individual credit unions and collectively. What is necessary to build and keep this type of culture moving? What role do CUSO's have as innovative partners?
  • Credit unions and mergers or acquisitions and some key reasons.
  • Search engine optimization and maybe steps you can take to try and police your brand online? Just a thought - Mark.
  • Just where are we in this timeline of Web 2.0 and how are we making it fit.
  • Can we create social capital through leadership and with the help of these extended conversations.
  • Encouraging collaboration both internally and between credit unions.
  • Ideas on measuring the effectiveness of a Web 2.0 marketing effort.

Blogging/twittering/podcast/vlogging

Everyone is strongly encouraged to bring your laptop/blackberry/iPhone/camera, and record/take notes/photograph/blog/tweet/podcast the sessions, conversations and your impressions.
