Brainstorming about potential sponsors to contact:

- Food: We need breakfast, lunch and dinner. Coffee and snacks we won’t provide, but there will have to be a place (coffee corner) where people can get it for themselves.

           Possible Sponsors:

  • The Milk House
  • Addis Catering

- Drinks: We can offer companies to provide one drink per meal per person and they can have a stand where people can buy more. And of course ways to present their logo (like banners all over campus).

  • Ambo (didn’t work out well last time)
  • Coca Cola
  • Moha
  • St, George
  • Axumit?
  • Aqua Safe
  • Yes water(They are relatively new and they may be interested in promoting themselves)

- T-shirts: Check for good quality t-shirts. Companies can have their logo’s on it. Have to be found out quickly, to see if there is a stash of shirts somewhere before they get shipped off to Merkato.

  • Maa garment
  • Novastar
  • The company that provides the Great Ethiopian Run shirts, anyone?

- Prints on the t-shirts: They can have their own logo on the shirt, would have to print the Bar Camp logo and the other companies’ names. No companies mentioned. Maybe the same company as for the Great Ethiopian Run.

  • iPrint
  • Mono 2000
  • Digital Impressions

- Stickers: The same companies suggested for printing on the t-shirts can also be approached about the stickers, maybe it will be the same one or maybe we ask separate companies.

- Banners: We need quite a lot of banners, to hang everywhere. No companies mentioned.

  • The same companies as stickers and t-shirts could also potentially print banners.

- Posters: nothing mentioned.

- Transport to Addis: People will get to Addis on their own expense. Maybe it is possible to provide participants with a letter they can show their schools or other institutions, as a proof of going to this event. Then there’s a possibility for them to get the trip sponsored by their own institution.

- Transport in Addis: Probably not needed. The whole event takes place on campus.

- Equipment: during the days there’s a lot of equipment needed. Where do we get all of it?

  • Projectors
  • Computers
  • Network cables
  • Generator
  • Power supply everywhere
  • Sound system
  • Flip charts, markers
  • DJ set, suggested by Markos

- Accommodation: provided by the university. Bar Camp will take place during break, so the rooms are available. There will be mattresses and beds available. Participants should bring everything else they need themselves.

- GPS workshop: ask Garmin to provide equipment. Or Tom Tom.

- Goodie bag: every participant will receive a bag which contains all information and other things needed to take part in Bar Camp. A list of items is available online (ADD WEBSITE).

  • Pen producing company

- Umbrellas

- Other sponsors: Apple, Vtab, ADD OTHER POSSIBLE SPONSORS. They shouldn’t sponsor one specific part/workshop of Bar Camp. We don’t know yet how Bar Camp will look like, that’s why we cannot ask them for specific material.
