We are looking for volunteers for the following committees. If you are interested, please add your name below the corresponding heading. Also, if you would like to handle a specific task put that beside your name in parenthesis.

  • Operations: Will be responsible for setting up tables and chairs, posting signage, directing parking, and greeting newcomers. Additionally, we will need 1-3 people to volunteer as Keymasters throughout the day/night.

  • Consessionary: Setting up and ordering food.

  • Logistics: Responsible for room assignments. (I'll take care of the board and room assignments - Jay Fichialos)

In The News

  • The Date of BarCamp Houston is 5-20-06 6-10-06. Put it on your calendar and we will see you there.

  • We are planning to make presentations to local college CS/Tech departments about BarCamp.
  • We are hoping to have an article in the Houston Press about a week before the event, and possibly one or two quick news spots on CBS or ABC (Marc knows a couple news producers there).
  • DONE Marc & I are meeting for lunch on Monday to further discuss Marketing Bar Camp in the Houston Area. If you are planning to attend BarCampHouston...or just considering it...please feel free to join us. We are meeting at: Wolf Gang Puck Express at 12:30 PM.

What We Need

  • DONE Logo - We need a distinctive Houston BarCamp Logo (maybe something that pays homage to the Astros for having such a great season this past year?)
  • Promotion - once the final date and location is set, we should get it to the right people - that means local bloggers (Metroblogging, blogHouston, htownblogs, etc.) podcasters, press (I'd love to see a Houston Press article)
  • A well designed invitation - both print and email - check out the awesome BarCamp Austin Poster by Chris Messina
  • Digital Projector(s) - I'll bring mine (I'll bring mine too - EO)
  • Wifi Hotspots - Someone should as Rudy Prince at AlwaysON wireless as suggested above
  • Power - Anyone remember how hard to come by the power was at SXSW?
  • Food and snacks
  • Toys - this was great fun at SXSW this year, a group brought tons of Legos that were donated afterwards to needy children - at least that's what the expectation was.

Carpooling from Dallas

Let's put together a carpooling group this time.

  • Raven Zachary
  • Jim Kerr - I'm in Dallas and will probably rent a car for the trip. I can rent something big if people need a ride.

Anyone interested in Carpooling from Austin?
