BarCampMontreal2 is over, and we all had a blast. Reports:
See BarCampMontreal2PostMortem for discussion of the event itself.
BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.
All attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one. All presentions are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall.
Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present.
Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.
When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers. When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.
You can learn more about BarCamp in this Wired Magazine article. There is another nice article here.
Don't forget to mention BarCampMontreal2 on your blog before (and after!) the event. Use these tags, in descending order of importance, so everyone can find your posts.
If you are interested in sponsoring BarCampMontreal, please let FredNgo know. Official sponsors receive a mention on the website, their logo printed on the t-shirt and the programme, and will have a chance to talk about their organization during the camp.
The language policy of BarCampMontreal is simple, and reflects Montreal’s bilingual heritage.
All written materials from BarCampMontreal (wiki, handouts, etc.) will be in both official languages of French and English. All texts are written and translated by participants. If you should spot any inconsistencies in the wiki, please help out by contributing corrections.
Individual speakers are encouraged to present in either of the official languages in which they are most comfortable. It is not required to have real-time translation. It is appreciated if any handouts and notes provided are in both official languages, though not required.
Individual participants are always encouraged to talk about BarCampMontreal, blog about BarCampMontreal, or contribute in some other way via their personal websites, blogs, etc. in any language of their own choosing.
In reference to the problems we had with the Internet connection at the last BarCampMontreal, participants would do well to prepare, if necessary, an off-line version of their presentation in case the problem resurfaces.
