BarCampNYC2 Equipment

Anders Ramsay and Kelly Lupo will be coordinating equipment

Equipment Checklist

Following our walkthrough of the Microsoft office space, this is the list of equipment we determined would be needed.

  • If you think something is missing from this list, please add a line-item below.
  • If you can bring something, please add your name to the corresponding line-item.

Item Needed Qty Needed Who Will Bring This Notes
Power Strips around 10 Kelly Lupo to bring 10
Extension cords around 10 Kelly Lupo to bring 10
VGA cables 3 Kelly Lupo to bring 3 and 1 VGA -> HD
DVI-VGA adapters 6 William Stratas to bring 1 PowerBook-G4 adapter
MINI-DVI-VGA adapters 6 William Stratas to bring 1 iBook adapter, Kelly Lupo to bring a mini vga - vga adapter (ibook) (The number of Mac adapters (both DVI -> VGA and Mini DVI -> VGA) we should probably have on hand depends on the number of projectors/rooms we can possibly have going all at once. If we have 6 or so that can be going at one time, then 4 should be more than enough. If we had 15 rooms, we may need to think about asking for more.)
Projectors (Backup) 1-3 Matt Katz to bring 1 HD 3k lumen projector, Eric Skiff to bring a projector, Noel Hidalgo to bring a projector with extension cord (MS has projectors in most meeting rooms, but good to have a couple extra ones)

Session Recordings

  • Jacob Redding of MNN has graciously offered to record sessions. We will have room(s) designated as "recording room(s)" upon checking in and picking out a timeslot. Get there early if you want to be guaranteed a recording! Thanks Jacob!

The network

Someone from Microsoft will be setting up the wireless network. As of right now, we're not aware of any equipment needs. Sunny Dubey from the NYLUG was a HUGE help in this regard last year. (Even so, the network broke down under load a few times.)

  • William Stratas can bring his Apple Airport Express - wirelessly connects up to 9 users. He can also bring both a PowerBook-G4 adapter and an iBook adapter
  • Sunny can bring wireless AP's again ... newer ones without faulty Sveasoft WRT54G firmware

Equipment setup for the previous NYC Barcamp

Nick Gray organized this last year. Read his points and feel free to contact him with advice. He did a great job.
