CSSSCampSaskatoon is Friday, February 6th, 2009. This is a special version of BarCampSaskatoon designed to bring industry and students/faculty together, with a goal of learning, teaching, listening and networking. It is being put on by the U of S Computer Science Students Society (CSSS) and the interactive industry.  Therefore, 75 spots will be reserved for students/faculty and 50 spots for industry. Industry: you must present, volunteer or sponsor to attend (no industry freeloaders). Students: you have the option of presenting or volunteering, but it is not mandatory.

The fourth BarCampSaskatoon will return in late September.

You must sign-up to attend. Space is limited to 75 students/faculty and 50 people from the Interactive Industry.

What is BarCamp?

BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. CSSSCampSaskatoon is open to all who love technology as a place to talk and to learn.

Where and When?

CSSSCampSaskatoon will take place on Friday February 6, 2009 at The Cellar. The Cellar is an ambient and very cool conference room in the basement of the Senator Hotel (243 21st Street East). There are three small conference rooms (two hold about 35 people and one about 25 people), a learning lounge, pool table room and “beverage station.” Internet access is available and has been upgraded from last year. Projectors will be donated. Bring your gadgets: laptop, mobile, camera, laser pointer, whatever.

Winston's will serve us food and drinks, we will work toward getting dedicated service.

BarCampSaskatoon: What's this all about?

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers.

~ A bit About participation

Attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one, or otherwise volunteer / contribute in some way to support the event. All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall. The people present at the event will select the demos or presentations they want to see. Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present.

The Rules of Bar Camp

  • 1st Rule: You do talk about Bar Camp.
  • 2nd Rule: You do blog about Bar Camp.
  • 3rd Rule: If you want to present, you must write your topic and name in a presentation slot and on this wiki.
  • 4th Rule: As many presentations at a time as facilities allow for.
  • 5th Rule: No pre-scheduled presentations, no tourists.
  • 6th Rule: Presentations will go on as long as they have to or until they run into another presentation slot (45 minute sessions are scheduled this year).
  • 7th Rule: If this is your first time at BarCamp, you HAVE to present. (Ok, you don't really HAVE to, but try to find someone to present with, or at least ask questions and be an interactive participant.)

Modified from Tantek Çelik as parodied from The Rules of Fight Club.
