Session Topics

What do you want to hear about? Or talk about?

BarCamp is a conference with a difference.

At BarCampanyone can present. Presenting is actively encouraged. Talks can be as short or as long as you like. We've scheduled to accommodate 45 min. presentations, to occur concurrently in up to as many as 3 rooms at a time. You can use slides, a web connection, or go commando. Talks can be technical or non-technical.

The BarCamp ethos is about sharing information. There is no overriding theme to the conference. If you would like to talk at BarCampSaskatoon2008 sign-up below now or sign-up on the day.

Talk:

  1. Ryan Lejbak (zu.com)- How Barack Obama engaged millions of people using social media.  Will explore Twitter, uStream.tv, faceboock, flikcr, friendfeed and more.  Will look at how others can use these tools to engage their stakeholders.
  2. Tony Arkles (vendasta.com) - Python Testing (python unittest + coverage.py + pylint)?  If there's interest.  Sorry, I'm feeling pretty ill and don't think I'm going to be able to make it (certainly, if I make it, I won't want to be standing up in front of everyone).  I put a fair bit of time gathering the material for this though, so I'll put it up on my blog over the next few days as text instead of as a slide deck.  Poke me on twitter @tonyarkles to remind me/if you want to talk about it.
  3. Kevin Baribeau (point2.com) - TDD Demo.  Demonstrate writing a simple program from end to end using TDD with java and junit as we practice it at Point2.
  4. Kevin Stricker (Omnilogic Systems) - Training the Client/Managing Expectations
  5. James Sapara (Omnilogic Systems) - Version Control
  6. Chris Dagenais/Chris Tarttelin (point2.com) - Agile development, how we adopted it and how it has worked out.
  7. Doug Johnson (Vecima) - C and Lua
  8. Terrell Plotzki (PotashCorp) - GWT (Google Web Toolkit)
  9. Ralph Deters (U of S) - cloud & mobile computing as well as services (REST/SOAP)
  10. Name - Topic

Hear:

  1. Katherine Regnier - From beta to commercial, how to market your new app.
  2. Cory Jacobsen - Python and/or django
  3. Ginger Koolick - What do students expect to get out of internship and/or subsequent entry level employment
  4. Person - Topic
