CityCampSF 2010 is over, what can I do now?

We'd like to have citycamps every six to 12 months. Stay in the loop with the links below, and help us make civic innovation in San Francisco and the Bay Area an ongoing success. Share your reaction to the event with blog posts, photos, contributions to the wiki and other media. Tag contributions "citycampsf." You can also e-mail contributions to the CityCampSF blog to citycampsf@adrielhampton.com.

Questions from CityCampSF

Another way to participate in the ongoing citycamps around the world is to answer questions that came out of the events. Here are two:

  • How do we analyze use of open government data when it is often used without attribution? What are the metrics to show success?
  • What does open government/Gov 2.0 look like as a political/social movement? What legislation or direct action should stem from the movement?

What is CityCampSF?

CityCampSF is an unconference focused on innovation for San Francisco Bay Area governments and neighborhood organizations (read more about CityCamp). It took place Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at CitizenSpace, 425 Second St., Suite 100, SF.

Cool, where do I sign up?

How do I stay in the loop?

To do...

With less than two months to go there's plenty of work to do. We're always looking for collaborators. Get in touch if you can help!

  • Plan social event (e.g. party/tweetup Saturday night?)
  • Create budget
  • Plan documentation (let's try to capture as much as we can of what comes out of CityCampSF)
  • Plan food and drinks
  • Identify volunteer opportunities
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Identify and contact potential sponsors
  • Identify "bank" (reaching out to Code for America)
  • Finalize sponsoring rules (e.g. upper limit for cash contributions, barcamp style)
  • Plan media outreach (do we want the press to be there? help us get the word out?)
  • Wifi
    • Cooper cooper@wordspicturesideas.com will organize
    • Using Meraki WiFi mesh
    • Once some more details are confirmed, Cooper will apply here http://meraki.com/free_event_wifi/
    • Still needed: backhaul - one or more high-speed connections from the local WiFi mesh to the Internet (hopefully these will be available at the venue - if not, we'll need a few 3G connections, or a long-distance wireless link to some nearby high speed connection)
  • The little things
    • Signage
    • Name tags
    • Session wall
    • Large sticky notes
    • Paper and markers
    • Clean-up gear
    • Nooks, sofas, and meeting spots to foster conversations
    • Electrical outlets
  • Your action item goes here...
