See the FAQ on the DemoCamp page (maintained by the TorCamp group).

  • Rules
    • Rule #1 of DemoCamp: Talk about DemoCamp ;)
    • Rule #2 of DemoCamp: No powerpoints allowed. Why no .ppt ? Well, do you have working stuff or don't you?
      • Rule #2a: Anyone breaking Rule #2 by not actually demoing a running product is required to buy the next round of beer for everyone in attendance.
    • {MB: parenthetical suggestion: can we relax rule #2 to say "minimal slides"? my rationale here}
      • you should bring a lot of beer then {Heri}
  • Who decides who gets to demo?
    • There are 5 available presentations that are available on a first come, first serve basis. Just edit the wiki page.
  • How long is each demo?
    • Demos should have roughly a 2 minute introduction, 8 minute demonstration, and 5 minutes for questions. 15 minutes total.
  • Do I have to have a demo?
    • Nope! You are welcome to come along and give feedback to the people who do (or just watch and absorb if you don't feel like talking).
  • Have another question?
    • Join the mailing list, ask your question, and someone will answer it for you!

Editing the Wiki

If you edit the wiki, please be sure to edit the French side also. If you cannot write in French, please put some (traduction svp)tags around your text(/traduction svp) and a member of the community will be happy to help. In the same vein, if you see a translation mistake anywhere, please help correct it; we depend on the community to support this endeavour!

Language Policy

The language policy of DemoCampMontreal is simple, and reflects Montreal’s bilingual heritage.

All written materials from DemoCampMontreal (wiki, handouts, etc.) will be in both official languages of French and English. All texts are written and translated by participants. If you should spot any inconsistencies in the wiki, please help out by contributing corrections.

Individual speakers are encouraged to present in either of the official languages in which they are most comfortable. It is not required to have real-time translation. It is appreciated if any handouts and notes provided are in both official languages, though not required.

Individual participants are always encouraged to talk about DemoCampMontreal, blog about DemoCampMontreal, or contribute in some other way via their personal websites, blogs, etc. in any language of their own choosing.
