Corporate Librarians’ BarCamp @ Bangalore

“It is informal and the content is dictated by participants”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LibCampBangalore entered the pages of history as India’s first Library Unconference on March 7, 2009. LibCampBangalore was conceptualized as a forum for Corporate Librarians to share and learn in an open, non-conference environment. This event was organized & hosted by the Library & Information Center team at TCS Bangalore.

The 33 participants from 15 different organizations discussed on eight topics, including Librarianship in the modern era,Federated Search, Open Access in the Corporate Sector, and Web 2.0 applications. The daylong event saw intense discussions and active interactions, facilitated by various members, in the true spirit of an unconference. The Corporate Librarians exchanged innovations and best practices, questioned, discussed, debated and shared their varied experiences, inspired by the unrestricted ambience of LibCampBangalore. This unique event also enabled better networking and collaboration among the Librarians from diverse organizations, who hailed this unconference as a trailblazer and applauded the TCS team for their novel approach.

Most of the participants were new to the concept of a barcamp/unconference and they liked the idea of audience controlled agenda/timetable etc.

Thanks to all who participated, volunteered, planned & made LibCampBangalore a resounding success.

The report of the event is avaialble @ http://barcamp.org/f/LibCampBangalore%20-%20A%20Report.pdf
