What is this event?

  • MiniBarCampKampala is barcamp focused on mobile phone innovation. Want to know how to connect a cell phone to a computer and send text messages? Who are the companies, students and people doing innovative work with mobile phones, IVR, SMS and computers? Come to the event and find out.

  • Presenters include UNICEF, who as a member of the new Open Mobile Consortium, will be talking about and demonstrating two things, the RapidSMS system and our new suite of 'mobile hacking tools', both of which will be eventually integrated into the OMC ecosystem.

  • A BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. Check out the TheRulesOfBarCamp to learn what to expect.

  • A MiniBarCamp is a barcamp that is a half-day or less.

  • This mini BarCamp is a mobile technology themed BarCamp. Its aim is to bring together mobile enthusiasts, innovators, developers explorers and professionals to share the current state and their visions for the future direction of mobility.

How Can I Help?

Great question! There's several ways you can help before the actual event:

  • __Plan a session/workshop:__ Mini BarCamp Kampala depends on ideas from everyone. Most importantly we want to hear about your ideas so think about hosting a session/workshop!
  • __Promote:__ Nothing is better than word of mouth. Help spread the word: blog/twitter about the event, email your friends, tell co-workers.
  • __Help Organize:__ we still have lots to do and extra hands are always great.

Remember, you make BarCamps great.
