Some random, candid thoughts for BarCampNYC
- File sharing - I don't want to kill our wireless access while you download my awesome DivX collection. Would love to see a desktop computer with ~200gb of disk space that we could open up for FTP or simple Windows file sharing.
- Checking in - I will be helping with check-in and thought it might be neat to list (on a wiki) those individuals who have already checked in as the day progresses. Ideally we snap a camera phone picture and quickly make a !TheirName page.... probably too much work, simple list might be better. (Or pen and paper, posted by the elevator) (What if you snap photos with your camera and submit to Flickr from there with the attendee's name as the title? We could batch tag them and put them in an album of BarCampNYC mugs. Cumbersome on my Treo, but maybe less so on your Hiptop? -amit)
- Back channel - Amit wants to do backchannel. I think it would be neat but potentially distracting, especially if it were IRC or AIM. How about Synchroedit ? I am even fine with this wiki on barcamp.org
- Reminder: Ask Jakob to borrow his flash video camera
