Organizer Roles
- instigator
- the person who creates the original push for the event (possibly by creating the first artefact of the event)
- catalyst
- a "doer" that creates progress for the event
- treasurer
- responsible for all monetary needs and incoming and outgoing flows of money at the event
- documentation coordinator
- the person that assures the event is recorded and shared.
- outreach
- someone who works outside the community to raise awareness or promote the event (local media, podcasters, bloggers, viral marketing, user groups, local relevant non-tech groups)
Participant Roles
- speakers
- sponsor manager
- networker/connector/hub -- someone who works within a community to raise awareness or promote the event
- supplier -- anyone who provides material support to the event (Belkin)
- facility procurement -- everyone's responsibility until an appropriate space is secured
- legal rep -- insurance, liquor, check IDs, contracts, etc
- runner/buyer -- the person(s) tasked with running errands on an as-needed basis.
- driver -- has a vehicle
- food
- scheduler
- board-runner -- runs the grid, insures the presentations run as scheduled, manages changes throughout the event.
- wikifier -- the person responsible for maintianing the wiki with announcements, event information, and notification to attendees.
- speaker -- introduces each presentation and makes general announcements during the event.

community -- a group of people who have gathered around a specific interest, passion or project
organizer -- goes above and beyond to make the event happen... set goals, is responsible for deliverables; organizers should delegate tasks in order to push towards certain goals;

follow-up roles: roles taken on after a BarCamp is over
self-selected roles: roles that can be taken on with little to no delegation
