What is [barcamp_IIT Kharagpur_web 2.0] ?

The camp will be based on the theme of "ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES IN WEB 2.0 SPHERE" with enlightening discourse on the definition of web 2.0 and the purpose of and the concept of the website being a marketplace for software services. This will be organized by Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur( www.ecell.iitkgp.ernet.in )

WHAT IS WEB 2.0 ?

Web 2.0 is the term given to describe a second generation of the World Wide Web that is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online. It basically refers to the transition from static HTML Web pages to a more dynamic Web that is more organized and is based on serving Web applications to users.

-> Other improved functionality of Web 2.0 includes open communication with an emphasis on Web-based communities of users, and more open sharing of information.

-> Over time Web 2.0 has been used more as a marketing term than a computer-science-based term. Blogs, wikis, and Web services are all seen as components of Web 2.0.

    • ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES IN WEB 2.0 SPHERE

-> Web 2.0 ushers a newer era of internet services that basically gives power to the people; it lets people collaborate and share information online through the use of communities, wikis and better communication tools. A creative mind can spread his/her innovation or market idea to the interested ones instantly without much pain.

-> One of the main ways Web 2.0 allows people to connect with potential customers online and slowly build a relationship is through building communities of interest.

-> Web 2.0 is also changing the way savvy SMEs approach marketing and their marketing spend as the internet

becomes the fastest-growing marketing medium in the world today, surpassing traditional forms such as outdoor advertising, magazines and even radio in terms of the number of advertising dollars it receives.
