iPhoneDevCamp is an upcoming gathering, inspired by BarCamp, SuperHappyDevHouse, and MacHack, to develop web-based applications and optimize web sites for iPhone. It is a non-commercial event, organized by volunteers, with attendance free to all. By the completion of the weekend event, a number of iPhone-ready web applications and web sites will be launched to the public. The event will be held at the San Francisco offices of Adobe, and out-of-town guests are welcome.
Attendees will include web designers, developers, testers, and iPhone owners, all working together over the weekend to improve the web experience for iPhone. Development projects will include both solo and team efforts. While some attendees will wish to work solo during the event, we encourage attendees to team up, based on expertise, to work in ad-hoc project development teams. All attendees should be prepared to work on a development project during the event. You do not need to own an iPhone to attend (although, a large number of iPhones at the event will make the development and testing process much easier).
Attendees will be able to:

We will be hosting an iPhone iPhoneDevCampHackAThon during iPhoneDevCamp, climaxing in a Hack-a-Thon demo session on Sunday at 2pm. Those participating and showing the values of sharing and innovation will have an opportunity to win prizes, including possibly an iPhone. The Hack-a-Thon will be run MacHack style (see msg thread iPhoneDevCamp and MacHack).
If you will not be able to join the main event at the San Francisco offices of Adobe, but would like to organize a satellite event in your own city, please create a sub-page, (e.g. http://barcamp.org/iPhoneDevCampBoston ), and link to it here.
We will also be exploring ways to allow for remote participation. Please stay tuned for more information.
Event IRC:
#barcamp as the backchannel on irc.freenode.net.
There is an ongoing iPhone developer community discussion list that the organizers of this list are members of. This is a good place for technical discussions before the iPhoneWebCamp, as well as place to recruit team members and discuss projects for the Hack-a-Thon.
Please visit iPhoneDevCampLinks for iPhone-related resources and links.
Please visit iPhoneDevCampCoverage to see a listing of blog entries, articles, and podcasts concerning iPhoneDevCamp.
We are actively seeking additional sponsors to help cover amenities. All sponsors will have their logos printed on the sponsors banner and will be thanked during the kickoff. Sponsoring a BarCamp event is not about lead generation, it's more like a donation - you're supporting the effort by supporting the attendees.
Meal sponsors: We are estimating that each meal will each run approx. $2-3k, based on the number of attendees (200-300). We also think pizza would make a great meal for attendees and cost approx. $1200.
Awards sponsors: We are looking for more awards sponsors. Donated items must directly tie-in to either the iPhone or development for the iPhone. Example awards include iPhone accessories, iTunes Music Store gift cards, and web development software licenses.
Please contact Raven Zachary and Blake Burris if you are interested in being a sponsor.
We are not able to provide transportation or lodging for the event. Attendees will need to make their own arrangements.
Public Transportation: Check routes and schedules. Weekend service may be limited.
Parking: There is plenty of parking around 601 Townsend, especially on Berry Street and along 7th. The Adobe Parking Garage will be closed during the event. Since it's the weekend, we should be ok for parking. The San Francisco Giants are playing out of town this weekend.
Reasonably-priced hotels within 'walking distance' or a short cab ride:
Three weeks from inception to execution. Can we do it? Yes, we can! The instigators (creators) of iPhoneDevCamp include RavenZachary, whurley, and Chris Messina. The catalysts (doers) of iPhoneDevCamp include Dominic Sagolla, Blake Burris, and Christopher Allen.
Roles:
MC: RavenZachary
Sponsorships: Blake Burris and RavenZachary
Logistics and press: whurley
Evangelism, presentations and so forth: Chris Messina
Facilities: Dominic Sagolla and whurley
Hack-a-Thon and Awards: Christopher Allen
If you are planning to attend in-person, please visit the iPhoneDevCampAttendees page and add your name and contact info.
NDA: Everyone in attendance will be asked to sign a brief Non-Disclosure Agreement, either electronically or on paper. This agreement is in place to protect attendees in case they are exposed to any confidential information from Adobe. We do not anticipate that attendees will be exposed to Adobe Confidential information, but the NDA is required for admittance, and only applies to Adobe Proprietary Information. See iPhoneDevCampAdobeNDA. Attendees unwilling to sign an NDA are encouraged to participate remotely. Update 07/04/07: Adobe has waived the NDA requirement for the event.
PARTICIPATION: This is a 'working' camp for developers, designers, and testers. The purpose is to build and launch web-based applications and sites for iPhone. This is not an iPhone users group gathering. All attendees will be involved in this process, either building or supporting builders. There are no lurkers! Please list whether you intend to develop, design, and/or test when you add your name. This is important information that will help us in the organization of teams (for those who want to work on a team effort).
