What is ActionCamp?
ActionCamp is a spin-off of BarCamp with a focus on giving back to the community through ACTION. For those who do not know what BarCamp is: BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.
ActionCamp is about gathering really smart people with diverse backgrounds that want to make a difference in their local communities. We put these bright minds in the same room, provide information about the important local causes and charities, then let them brainstorm about how to make a difference. Taking those ideas and putting them into ACTION is the main activity of ActionCamp.
Campers will have free reign over what they do. Campers may choose to band together or split off into smaller groups when putting there plan into action. Impromptu Studio will serve as a "home base" for people to work from for the weekend. We encourage groups to film and photograph the journey of implementing their action. Campers are welcome to bring their laptops, cameras, etc. Campers will be helping out in any way possible...capitalizing on what your good at is highly encouraged!
