A BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. Since this is quite possibly the first Australian event, the rules may be slightly relaxed so as to encourage more campers. If you want to attend, you are encouraged to give a presentation or a demo of some kind, but no one has to do anything. Have a look at wikipedia for more information

Early Thoughts
I don't want to spent to much time organizing this, probably the best way to create buzz for a barCamp in a city like Adelaide would be to just have a barCamp. We can always worry about having more money and a better venue next time.
As for theme, it is as broad as possible. Adelaide has a population of little more than one million, but there should be enough gadget-geeks, web developers and coders out there to make it a nice party.
What we definitly need
- Venue
- Wifi
- Publicity
- please add
Sponsors
At this stage, a venue sponsor would be great. Maybe one of the Universities?
