Who
Organizers
Both Eric and Michael have done a lot to get BarCamp Albuquerque 3 going this year, and for some reason, probably because of their humble nature and support for the community over public recognition, they have not added their names to the organizer list. We have added it for them. Thanks for the help guys. Take a bow.
- Aw shucks. /me bows -- Michael Bernstein

Attendees
Presenting
Add your name here (alpha by last name):
- Michael Bernstein
- I plan to facilitate the Sunday 4pm roundtable on Local Open Source
- I can do another python-related talk, see below in the 'maybe presenting' section
- Reid Givens
- Chris Kenworthy
- Frank LaFond
- Emily Lewis
- Daniel Lyons - I'm going to present, but I'd like to know what would be most interesting to people:
- REST (Representational State Transfer)
- REST, definitely. -- Michael
- Advanced PostgreSQL, probably specifically using views and triggers.
- Haskell or some other fringe language.
- Bend our minds - Haskell maybe?. -- Frank
- Jack Moffitt - What start-up topics would people like to hear about? Building on open source? Working with a distributed team? Hiring? I could also talk about Amazon Web Services (EC2 and S3 in particular), perhaps.
- I'd be most interested in: 'Building a startup on Open Source', but also other startup-related topics (other than EC2 and S3, unless you have a particularly interesting case study). -- Michael Bernstein
- I'm quite interested in what you have to say about XMPP. -- DKL
- He's doing a 'startup' talk in addition to his XMPP talk. -- Michael Bernstein
- I'm thinking we can use some of the thoughts generated by the Saturday presentation for a roundtable Sunday -- erw
- Rich Murray
- Gabriel Ortiz
- Eric Renz-Whitmore -- I plan to help (can facilitate) w/ 4PM Saturday Roundtable on Opportunities for collaboration; 1PM Sunday Roundtable on Energizing local startup activity.
- David Thomas - Linux and Nagios Can't make Saturday will be there on Sunday
- Adam Thomas - Scratch programming for kids Can't make Saturday will be there on Sunday
Not Presenting
Add your name here (alpha by last name):
- Adin Burroughs -- family commitments have come up, but I'll try drop by to answer q's about Distributed Interactive Simulations. Just in case, I'll refer everyone to check out http://www.sisostds.org (the international standards body responsible for DIS & HLA) which has *lots* of information about DIS & HLA. (Disclaimer: I was an officer on the Standards Committee and sat on the Board for a bit)
- DIS sounds interesting. What implementations are available? -- Michael Bernstein
- Seconded. -- DKL
- I've been interested in hearing an explanation of HLA, DEVS, or other (DIS?) from someone who actually knows something about it. - David Baird
- DIS sounds cool --erw
- OK, what do you want to know about DIS, since I can't obviously cover the entire history, standards and implementation in a reasonable amount of time. Would you rather have a roundtable or....?
- start with what it is / what it's for, enumerate existing open source implementations, pick one and go into more detail, maybe do a simple demo, end with Q&A. -- Michael Bernstein
- Not really applicable for DIS (IEEE1278). Most programs custom write their own engines, several companies sell middleware. Nothing to demo on a low level protocol that mediates virtual worlds and keeps objects in sync. Think of describing the protocol behind multiplayer Halo. There's only one open source game that implemented some of the protocol, AFAIK - "acm" in most repos.
- James Byrne - Let me know if you need a Coffee Donation.
- Killbox, Bringing a Screen for projectors, there to help tear down too, Available but not prepared to talk about Urbex, Photography, Blogging, And Jiggery-pokery
- Jessica McElhiney (probably)
- Amanda Otter - I will not be able to be there the whole time because of some prior family commitments, but will come for as much as I can
- Jonathan Price, HotText, interested in faceted analysis, taxonomies, info architecture, content management, and writing for the web
- I'd love to know more about faceted analysis or taxonomies, if you wouldn't mind just ranting for a few minutes. -- DKL
- Minh D. Tran
Maybe Presenting
Add your name here (alpha by last name):
- David Baird
- Maybe web-based diagram editing (the inspiration well is running a little dry, so not sure I'll be ready in time)
- Michael Bernstein - Might present. Some possible topics, please indicate interest!:
- Something Python-related, such as Google App Engine, or Zope (I could repeat my recent OSCON talk on 'Hidden treasures of the Zope3 Community')?
- I'd like to know more about the Zope situation. -- DKL
- You mean a 'State of Zope' talk? Not sure that would have broad appeal. -- Michael Bernstein
Something design-related, maybe an overview of CSS grid frameworks, or the dojo.gfx library?
- Chad Davis - might talk about online video, managing content for a local media company (KNME), or developing a new model for Public Media in a Web 2.0 world. But I'm new to this whole barcamp thing so I'm not sure if that fits with the vibe of the event. I'll yield to will of the group (or to that of those who can edit wikis).
- I might be an outlier, but I think your take would fit in very well! -- erw
- I agree with Eric. Please add your presentation to the schedule! -- Michael Bernstein
- Michael Odza - may present on a plan to make money from new social networks without depending on advertising. Will try to bring a whiteboard--I need to buy one anyway.
- Eric Renz-Whitmore -- will bring projector; likely presenter (esp. like the roundtable topics).
- Tara Sachs - may present but I need to think of something...
Notes
- Chantal really wants to attend but has Labor Day conflicts. I could do the following weekend if by chance we reschedule.
- Chris is going to be gone Labor day weekend, but September is pretty open.
- The Weekend moved, I assume that this just hasn't been updated, but If anyone knows anyone who had labor day conflicts, please let them know the new date if you haven't already.
- Jessica is wondering if Chef Jim's place has internet/wi-fi. I'm assuming/hoping yes since there is focus on the intertubes, but since it's not specified anywhere... I'm on call for work during conference time which mean sooner or later I'm going to need to remote in.
- Yes, Jim Whites Cafe does have internet, but we are bringing in WiFi, so most likely it will be open and unsecured because it is temporary for us.
Needs
- Projectors
- Eric Renz-Whitmore
- Killbox
- Screens
- Whiteboards
- Jack Moffitt has a few medium sized whiteboards if no one else has any
