BarCampApache - Meritocracy in Action, BarCamp Style.
The next BarCampApache will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2009 in Oakland, CA (register now, it's free)
ApacheCon US 2009 will host its own unconference! Coinciding with the traditional Apache Hackathon, BarCampApache is a dynamic get together open to the public. Like other unconferences, the schedule will be determined by the participants.
For the 10th anniversary of The Apache Software Foundation, the annual ApacheCon returns us to the San Francisco bay area with its own BarCampApache. This will be a unique and exciting celebration of 10 years of great coding, the evolution of an amazing community, and a look at the future of Open Source and The Apache Software Foundation. Join us!
This year, as an extension of ApacheCon US 2009, we're hosting a BarCamp! Note that many of the regular attendees of ApacheCon will be participating in the BarCamp itself, so we're looking forward to cross pollenation with new communities. Check the updates page for the latest details.
This is an ideal opportunity to seek out people of like mind. At a BarCamp, you can talk about anything you think people will be interested in, and it need not be Apache-specific. How about telling us about your favorite project, how to enjoy yourself in Oakland, survival tips for one's first month on an ASF list, why you love your job, why you hate your job, etc. There will be plenty of space to break off and continue discussion with people of like mind.
Since BarCampApache precedes the main conference, you might want to register for the conference as well. You may also want to consider attending the free MeetUps that will be held in the evenings after the main conference tracks.

So what is The Apache Software Foundation?
Established in 1999, The Apache Software Foundation provides organizational, legal, and financial support for a broad range of Open Source software projects, including Apache HTTP Server -- the world's most popular Web server software for more than a decade. The Foundation provides an established framework for intellectual property and financial contributions that simultaneously limits contributors' potential legal exposure. Through a collaborative and meritocratic development process, Apache projects deliver enterprise-grade, freely available software products that attract large communities of users. The pragmatic Apache License makes it easy for all users, commercial and individual, to deploy Apache products.
