About

What

BarCamp is an "unconference" - organized by attendees, for attendees. It's an open, welcoming event for geeks to hang out with or without wifi and smash their brains together. It's about geekery and having a focal point for great ideas.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to give a demo, a session, or help with one. You can help by taking notes on the wiki, blogging the event, helping to promote the event, or helping with logistics.

FAQ

Just put your questions here and they'll get answered.

Q: Where should Americans stay? Someplace close? Some have suggested the Leela, but at $420USD+ that is a bit expensive.

A: Here is a list of hotels encompassing most budgets.

Q: What airport should we fly into?

A: Bangalore airport. There's just one right now.

Q: Any idea on when we should get there?

A: Report in by 8.30 am on Saturday morning.

Q : What's the time limit for each topic and number of topics allowed per person?

A : One session per person. 30-40 minutes duration.

Q : Is this for technical topics only?

A : No

Q : There are already more than 150 campers listed, can I still attend the BarCampBangalore?

A : Not everyone who lists him/herself is actually going to come. So by all means add yourself, and if there are dropouts, you are in.

Q: Is there a list of nearby hotels?

A: Here and here.

Q: The venue has changed to Yahoo at EGL. How many concurrent sessions/halls? How many participants and presentations are now possible? Does the 100 people limit still hold good? Wifi available? Wired access points?

A: [http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bangalore_barcamp/message/134] has most of the answers

Q: What all things do one need to bring while coming to attend the Unconference ?

A: As little as possible. Notebooks, PDAs, Cameras etc are fine, but avoid bags, backpacks, etc. There is no way of storing anything safely, so the only thing that's safe is what you can comfortably carry around.

Q: How can I contribute without actually giving a presentation?

A: Blog, take photos and videos and upload them, involve yourself in discussions, have fun.

Q: Lunch and Dinner are sponsored and at the venue, but will coffee/tea/snacks be available for purchase at the premises throughout the day? Or will I have to leave the premises for a quick, non-lunch/dinner bite?

A: Nope. Stuff will be provided. No worries. Maybe free.. or at a cost per item.
