A BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants.
BarCampBank is a community organized around the following mission:
The aim of BarCampBank is to foster innovations and the creation of new business models in the world of banking and finance.
Where & When?
BarCampBankChicago is currently being planned for late 2009 or early 2010. Want to help? Contact chrisjamesmorris (at) gmail.com.
Why?
It's inevitable - Chicago is filled with innovators around finance. Also, nearby Madison, WI is the home base for many credit union organizations (and cooperatives in general). Also, there are many people involved in social media & innovation in Chicago.
Who should join?
If you are an innovator, a disruptor or a professional of the banking and finance industry, if you are excited by or just curious about all the innovations that the new technologies could bring to the banking and finance world, if you want to present a project, confront your ideas or just echo lively debates with your own experience, then you should definitely consider joining us at BarCampBankChicago.
Who can help?
Please, if you can help us organizing the event, add your name here and help you could provide. Contact chrisjamesmorris (at) gmail.com

What do we need?
Right now we're still getting things together. The best way to help at this point is to signal interest and help drum up more people interested in seeing this event come to pass. One way to help generate interest is through the use of your existing social network and friends.
Once we have about 4-5 people on the list above, Christopher will organize a meeting of some sort (either face-to-face or conference call) and organization will start in earnest (delegating tasks, etc).
Go to BarCampBank to get the complete list of firm BarCampBanks for the coming year or BarCampBanks currently under planning (and join the organization of events local to yours).
