Suggestions to build on the Flashmeeting process you are already developing here:
- Maybe we could actually create a tentative schedule before hand of the agenda (15 minutes for this, 20 minutes for that, etc)? The "chairperson" would then basically be the person who helps to keep things on schedule. This could be the "structured" part of the meeting. If a guest is brought in, then time would be scheduled for the guest to speak, and for Q&A with the guest. Guest activities should be at least roughly planned out ahead of time. If a guest is brought in, it might actually be good to "schedule" the guest at, or towards the beginning of the meeting, maybe. Doing these things might speed up the process of getting Flashmeetings organized a little. These are just some suggestions. Feel free to refactor, etc.
- Once the structured part is over, I recommend that anyone who wants to stay on the line and talk in an unstructured way can simply do so. Or, free form/unstructured conferences can also be scheduled at other times. In my humble opinion, it's good to encourage some time for free form communication/brainstorming, in the spirit of BarCamp. -- SamRose
I agree with Frederic regarding the length of the meeting : 1h30 is enough. A tigh schedule is the best way to keep audience attention. To achieve this goal we definitively should adopt the organization/process suggested by Sam : 2 parts. The first part requires a close regulation by the "timekeeper". This allows, say, 30 mn at the end of the meeting for an open agenda. In my opinion, the unstructured part should also be time limited. -- JeanChristopheCapelli
For decision making meetings, we could make discussion motion-based, for other meetings, we could schedule time, but stop and move on earlier if everyone is done with an item before allotted time expires. This second methos is based on the "open space" idea There's a good set of insights here: http://www.communitywiki.org/en/OpenSpace (see discussion on that page) -- SamRose
Hi all. How about to schedule a session during BarCampZurich (octobre 28 th at 6:00 pm local time ?) I'd be happy to try some participants in Zurich. Please register if you're interested and don't forget to ask (even in english) to LoiezDeniel to set up a session on les oies sauvages's forum. Thanks -- ChristopheDucamp
Hi Christophe, I'm on for Saturday October 28 6:00 pm CET. I confirmed my name above in the Prospective Attendees section. Other participants, please do as well.
Do we have a quick start-up guide for what remote attendees are required to do to connect? -- FredericBaud
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend remotely if BarCampBankFlashMeeting2 is on oct 28, as I will be at my job (6PM CET is 12 noon where I am at). -- SamRose
Hi Sam, seems like the odds are low we hold BarCampBankFlashMeeting2 today. It's 5:30pm in Europe and I haven't heard from the campers in BarCampZurich. I hope they are having a good time and managed to recruit a lot of barcampbankers. We can keep this page for the details of the upcoming BarCampBankFlashMeeting. I'm planning to set-up a BarCampBankMailingList so that we can have an alternate mode of communication to broadcast info on upcoming events or happenings. -- FredericBaud
Ok. Maybe we can perhaps then set a firm date for BarCampBankFlashMeeting2? -- SamRose
Sam would you be ready to join us Wednesday October 8th 20h00 (Paris wintertime) ? I'd be interested to have a link to translate in your "michigan time" ? -- ChristopheDucamp
