Bar Camp Bank Mailing List

If you are interested in exchanging ideas with other fellow-barcampbankers using a mailing list, please indicate your interest below. If the idea is flying, we'll soon have the details on this page on how to subscribe (and unsubscribe) to the BarCampBankMailingList.

Interested

  • FredericBaud (if I'm the only one, I may skip setting-up a mailing list to have my left brain talk to my right brain)

  • SamRose - I am interested, although I recommend that it be kept low volume, and that people attempt to use wiki for most discussion. I do understand that it is difficult to track discussion across wiki pages, although it would be much easier to follow discussion if BarCampBank is eventually fixed mostly to one wiki space. Perhaps we can find a way to carry on general discussion on a mailing list, thenmove to a wiki page if it starts to expand into a very large thread? Just an idea. -- SamRose

Discusion

I'm thinking of setting-up a mailing list so that we can broadcast mails to interested members. I'm thinking of using mailman because it's already installed on the distro of a server sitting on the Internet. If you think other programs (like Majordomo or the free edition of Listserv) would be more appropriate, do not hesitate to say so. Please provide any feedback. -- FredericBaud

Mailman will likely work great -- SamRose

I'll try working on this on Wednesday Nov. 1 (Bank Holiday here in France). I agree with the idea of eventually fixing BarCampBank discussions in a single place to ease the search for changes. I think though we have an equal need for pull and push exchange of information. General discussions need to endure on a Wiki page for a while. Quick synch-up notes are better done through emails. I think we may also eventually coordinate through collaborative spaces: could be spaces like Google's online tools or other offers that are currently rapidly emerging on the Net. -- FredericBaud
