Christian Crumlish talking about Design Patterns -- Figure out context, discuss what the problems (competing forces) and then the solution -- an observation of an existing and working solution
Talking about Yahoo Pattern library... sensitize example, when to use it (context) & then solution.
Sharing Pattern Languages -- started in Architecture, applied to coding and UI -- mailing list discussed, how can the libraries be cross polinated and linked together -- How do you do the data exchange? PLML -- pattern langague markup language
Other is the microformat: add classes to the UI design pattern -- But there aren't enough people doing it to make it useful.

Chris Messina's Design Pattern Gallery (i.e. collection) Good to get lots of visuals and compare them (i.e. the audit stage) -- better to compare picture than text -- but it's just visuals -- no problem & solution metadata attached
Meat of what we're talking about today: Social media and social networking -- we can start to collaborate on a pattern language for how social media works. Moving towards open discussion
OPen floodgates of brainstorming design patterns for social media, and not editing to what people say. Go through again and then sift and edit
Or list the structure first... Probably don't want to start at that level
Could start w/ the major themes of: * Presence, * Attention, * Identity & * Reputation
Digg THis! pattern -- allow people to vote up (or vote down) bookmarks or stories to find the popular ones -- Could be underneath a larger parent -- Or there could be siblings
