On the Weekend
Talks
This bit is really important. There are no spectators at BarCamp, only participants. Everyone must give a talk on any subject they feel like. Less scary alternatives to talks: discussions, panels, brainstorms, whiteboard session, demos. Your room will be provided with a projector, bring anything else you need with you. Each session lasts 30 minutes.
Board
Here is a digital version of the board: BarCampBrighton3Board
Myspace Developer Platform
Our Gold sponsors, Myspace developer platform, are going to be running a Myspace "corner" as well as a session at BarCamp to demo and have you play with cool stuff you can do with their API.
In order to take advantage and join in the fun however, you must sign up to the Myspace Developer Platform by this coming Wednesday, as it can take up to 2 days to be approved.
Signing up is a 2 step process:
Then come along, meet Myspace and have a play!
Hackathon Challenge
There will be a Hackathon challenge this year, set by our hosts at the Students Union - read all about it and start thinking.
Things to bring
Laptop - don't forget your charger and please remember to bring any special laptop to VGA converter/cables for the projectors you may need. There will be wi-fi coverage. It may be worth backing up any material you are presenting onto a pen drive just in case.
Lanyards and wallets - We will have printed badges for everyone and these must be displayed at all times for security reasons. Can we therefore ask you bring along an old lanyard and badge wallet from another event. If you are going to dconstruct bring your lanyards and badge from there. Just in case you have not heard the term before, a “lanyard” is the event industry name for the ribbon used to suspend your badge from.
Really Important Note
Neither SUSU or the organisers of BarCampBrighton can take any responsibility for any items lost, stolen or damaged at the event. We would advise you to take reasonable precautions such as not leaving your laptop unattended, etc.
