Attendance is be free. Everyone is encouraged to present or otherwise participate.

Session Structure

Sessions can be in any format - however, here are some ideas:

  • Panel
  • Presentation
  • Goldfish Bowl
  • Soap box - Just stand on a box and spout your wisdom.
  • Half-Geeked - Half-Baked, but tech focused.
  • Demo new stuff
  • Debates
  • Fixbit - Problem solving with a whiteboard, pens and running down kitchen timer
  • Anything goes...

In terms of time, slots will be around 15 minutes of talking and 5 minutes of Q&A. If the group wants more time, it's okay to self-organise and reshuffle the schedule or find another location to continue the discussion. There will be a 10 minute interchange between each presentation to allow speakers and people to move from other rooms and set up or get a drink - so presentations should start on the hour and every half hour.

Proposed topics

Want to know what some of the topics may be? Check out the Proposed topics page (and feel free to add your own topic!).

The list of unorganisers are located on the BarCampCanberra Unorganisers page.

Marketing

Put down your ideas for how the event should be marketed. Contribute and expect to get fingered to do something!

Media Sharing and Tags

Sharing everything from the day is a key part of a Barcamp event. Upload all photos to Flickr, all presentations to Slideshare, all videos to YouTube; use the tag barcampcanberra and bcc2014.

Get the word out about this event, feel free to use this blurb we've put together or say it in any way you want.

When you come, be prepared to share with BarCampers.

When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.

It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to participate.
