Introduction
The official definition: BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.

BarCamp is often called the unconference, a reference to its very loose structure. In practical terms it's a way to collaboratively LEARN, TEACH and SHARE.
To paraphrase Steve Cooperman, it's:
just a bunch of interesting people, not necessarily techies ... gathered to interact, learn, teach and share.
CommuniCampFairfield will be a 1 day event, an experiment in bringing people together to collaborate and to see where that leads. The Communi- part is about Community and communications - this is an opportunity to build better community through collaboration.
We want a varied group to be involved with CommuniCampFairfield. There are almost no limits. The only stipulation is that you should think about the value of your session to the community (and you're free to define that however you wish). Be an active contributor to the sessions, rather than a passive spectator.
How can you help with CommuniCampFairfield? There are a few ways:
- First, think about what you want to share with people or what you want to learn
- Add your ideas to this wiki. Click on the Edit Page button at the top of this page
- Get on the BarCamp Google group
- Contact Sundar: cybertoast at gmail dot com if you have any questions
In the eternal words of Chairman Kaga: Allez BarCamp!

Where to stay?
If anyone interested in BarCampFairfield is coming from out of town, please leave a note here, and I'm sure we can figure out swank-ish accommodations.
- Hi. I'm Jason. I'm bringing myself from Cedar Rapid and another from Iowa City.
Schedule
The actual schedule - the specific events and times - will only be known on the day of BarCampFairfield. But it's important to have a lot of different ideas added here first. Jot your contribution down in either the "I want to Share" or "I want to Learn" sections below.
CommuniCampFairfield has no strict format. You can share ideas for however long you want (obviously keeping your audience in mind :) ) The format is entirely up to you. This is a participatory unconference, which means we want people to actively share - check out TheRulesOfBarCamp for more details.
The actual schedule will be based on the number of proposed discussion sessions. So make your ideas known, and keep your eyes on the CommuniCampFairfield wiki for updates.
The idea behind CommuniCampFairfiled is to bridge the gap between the artists, technologists and rvolutionaries in the community. Think of BAR in the case of BARCamp to mean Being an Active Resident/Revolutionary/Reactionary. Your ideas make this community richer. CommuniCamp gives you a venue to connect with others who may have a solution to your problems.
With that said, here are a few random ideas:
- Sharing your knowledge of specific technology (computing and otherwise)
- New techniques in your artistic ventures
- Project(s) that you would like to get off the ground, but need input on some of the missing pieces
- Things you think people should be aware of (projects, concerns about technology, specific areas of interest, etc.)
Event : 9.30 am - ...
(we've pushed the time out from 9am coz it's Sunday morning. But I'll probably be at MorningStar early so come by if you want to just hang out and chat).
09.00 - 10.00a: socializing, caffeination, jotting ideas down
10.00 - 12.30p: presentations in 2 rooms
Either bring a couple of bucks and we'll order in pizza and continue discussions. Or break out into groups and return by 1:30p
13:00 - ... : presentations in 2 rooms
We can continue discussions over dinner and/or beer if anyone is interested.
