Please provide a short profile of yourself which will help you and others to come up with topics for the day
- Conor O'Neill, Argolon. Involved in software development since 1992. Started in embedded software with S3 in Dublin, then Integral Design, followed by Xilinx. Did a startup called Advanticus in 2002. Switched to enterprise software in 2003 with EMC and founded Argolon the same year. After a short stint in the security world with Mcafee, I'm back in startup mode and building a new webapp for launch early 2007. Current interests include agile languages, microformats, marketing (and early stage funding :-) )
- David Copithorne, Waveson. First paying job in software dev. was for Iona Tech. in 1999 as a UCC co-op. After college joined as one the first employees of a mobile top-up distribution business, YQ, where I managed embedded software development, product design and manufacturing and back office development. Left YQ after a number of years to work as a contractor for Vodafone Ireland. Over the summer, with Stephen Higgins, founded Waveson. Interests include social software, microformats, and all startup related issues.
- Keith Bohanna, dbTwang. Not a developer. Not a techie! Entrepreueur (with varying degrees of success). Was closely involved in niche marketing business in UK, niche manufacturing business there as well and for 2 1/2 years here in a start-up that raised nearly 400k in angel investment and was aimed at a US market. Now co-founder of dbTwang - the web based service place for guitar collectors and enthusiasts - that will launch (behind schedule) by end of year.
- Elly Parker, ellybabes. Based more on the IT Support and Development end of things (but yet not very technical...), I run a secure web-based construction collaboration system for a 'global semiconductor industry giant' based in Leixlip (google it if you're not sure!). I deal with the major construction projects ($5M - $300M) and look after their data integrity and security. Outside of work, attempting to develop my own website and blog. I'm also involved in neighbours.ie, a new space for neighbours and communities to mix & meet online.
- Eoghan McCabe, Naive by Design. Freelance web designer based in Dublin. Interested in building sites with super-simple interfaces and creating small web apps that make people happy.
