BarCampMelbourne is part of the BarCampAustralia, and will be held at the same time as other BarCamps across Australia on the 3rd and 4th of March, 2007.

A BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. If you want to attend, you are encouraged to give a presentation or a demo of some kind. Have a look at wikipedia for more information.

Things to do

  • Get more people who can help out
  • Find a couple people eager to give a presentation.
  • Worry about sponsors, and things like internet and food for the event.
  • Inform the masses

Sponsors

BarCamps are free events, organised by volunteers. With this in mind, there are some associated costs with running such an event - and it is customary for local BarCamp organisers to find sponsorship for these costs.

BarCamps offer sponsors a unique and cost-effective way of increasing their exposure to the Melbourne geek scene - attendees are usually either industry professionals or IT students.

If you or your organisation would like to sponsor this event, please visit the sponsorship page page for more details.
