BarCampMontreal2 Demo Schedule / L'horaire des demonstrations

BarCampMontreal2 is OVER! Thanks to all who came. See BarCampMontreal2PostMortem for post-event discussion, and watch for upcoming camps like RoCoCoCamp from 18-20 May 2007, DemoCampMontreal3 in June 2007 and BarCampCanada1 in Fall 2007.

  1. Damien Di Fede - MUJAX: A psuedo-MUD using the ever popular AJAX technique
  2. EvanProdromou - How I learned to stop worrying and love the Semantic Web
  3. www.mycarpoolstation.com - We supply web-based carpool stations to schools, workplaces, and regions in the U.S. and Canada.
  4. Sylvain Carle - Ce que j'ai appris à San Franciso durant le Web 2.0 Expo (avec les développeurs, les marketeurs et les VCs) and arralel Entrepreneurship and a few peeks a two of my startups...

  6. HughMcGuire - Starting-Up: mistakes I've made so far (see the slides)
  7. HughMcGuire - atwater digital media project (am I allowed to do 2 presentations?)
    1. SimonLaw: Please pick the one you like best, in order to give other people a chance to present. Of course, if we have enough time, I don't see why we can't squeeze another one in.
      1. OK.
  8. Five minute lightning talks
    1. Mike: IP laws in China
  9. Nelson Ko - (5 min) Maybe "What I learned from Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco" but this is the same as Sylvain's above, so maybe "5 steps to grow online community - in 5 minutes."
    1. David:
  10. Alok Mohindra - (Five minutes) Making phones do funny things, proof-of-concept for FonoMe global inbound telephone service. Will demo plain old telephone to GoogleTalk voice integration using SIP, Jabber, and Jingle.
  11. Angelo Anduaga - Podtattoo Laser Labs permanently laser etches any iPod/laptop/cellphone with any pic/logo/font you provide http://podtattoo.com
  12. SimonLaw - "Say cheese" — taking photographs with cheap drugstore cameras.

  17. Moomlyn - Lucid Dreaming
  18. Martine Pagé - "Présence féminine/where are the girls" — a question based, panel like session about the lack of women's representation at tech conferences. Is a "women in tech" list, like the one created in the U.S., a solution? Do we even need a solution? Is that a real problem? Une session bilingue (qui se veut davantage un panel) sur la faible présence des femmes dans les conférences reliées à la technologie.
  19. Martin Dufort - Powerpoint Karaoke - Five brave souls will present slides they have never seen before and have no clue about the content. Vote for the best presenter. Winnner takes it all and full cheers from the audience. I need five (5) volunteers. Email me at: martin.dufort@kakiloc.com if you are interested
    1. (Sylvain Carle, Fred Ngo, (Moomlyn and Madame Woo), Avery Pennarun)
    2. I'll be the first victim volunteer. -- FredNgo

  21. Marcella Lorenzi - Art, science, technologies ESG research group in Italy. Http://galileo.cincom.unical.it. Looking for partners for common projects in art and science and/or communication of science. 22. Josh Nursing Hacking Thought - Systems Thinking and the Myth of Exclusive Or
  23. Will Lachance - Building industrial strength open source software with CMake.
  24. Growwwing - TBA

  26. Ara Pehlivanian - "When your HTML shouldn't be" - Strategies on keeping pseudo-content out of your markup (Can't make it)
  27. Dave Coombs - Digital Security on Airplanes, and Why You Care (There's no way I can make it tomorrow. I'm too doomed. Sorry.)
  28. Paul Farnell - Introduction to my company (SiteVista), and a demo of my Pecha Kucha presentation tool, delicious.salted.com (sorry guys)
  29. EvanProdromou, AnneGoldenberg: RoCoCoCampMontreal 1-minute intro.

Do we still restrict the presentations to 15 minutes? Je pense que ça a bien marché la dernière fois... Aussi je propose un nouveau format, des "high five", des toutes petites présentations de 5 minutes, share a tip, a trick, an information with the community. That should be fun and entertaining and gives a small step opportunity to someone that could prefer this mini-format. I also have a few roundtables/panels to prepare, got some interest in "girls in tech" panel from a few potential participants... --SylvainCarle

Special Session / BoF / session spéciale

Sur l'heure du midi, une session de discussion pour faire avancer le projet de CoWorking Montréal est prévue.

Attendees / Les Participants

IMPORTANT: There is no way to contact attendees if there are changes to the event, i.e., location, after-conference location, cancellation, etc. This means that announcements will be posted on the BarCampMontreal2 page, or the BarCampMontreal Google Group.

Questions

  • Tamu sez: I can't think of anything to talk about, but I'd like to volunteer to clean things up at the end of the day. Do you have a task for me during BarCamp? You can ask me, but any advance warning would be nice.
  • Julien Gilli: Same thing as Tamu, I just saw on the website that a Barcamp is taking place on Saturday and I'd really like to attend, but I can't think of something useful to do. So feel free to tell me how I could contribute to this event, I'll try my best to find out something myself though.
    • My feeling is anyone who is willing to attend in the spirit of wanting to help and participate is welcome! -- FredNgo
  • Keith Tom: I hate to say it, but I'm in the same situation. I just found out about this yesterday, and don't have anything to present. I would like to help in anyway possible but I might not be able to stay for clean up at the end... is this okay? perhaps I can come really early and help with setup? I will try to do this unless you guys can think of another need for me. Thanks!
  • Claire Buffet: Same situation...
    • Yes, participation is in the larger sense, a broad term, giving a hand to place chairs or distribute nametags is ok too!
