From barcamp.org:

BarCamp is an ad hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.

-OR-

It is an interactive platform where all participants present, share, speak-up or at least be active listeners.

How to Reach IIT Bombay, the Venue (includes a map,taxi/train/bus instructions, etc.)

Why?

An opportunity to share and learn about interesting ideas, opportunity to meet and share your ideas, services or products with like-minded individuals.

How?

Everything at a barcamp is impromptu, on the spot, unplanned. That's why they call it a "un-conference". That's why it is fun. Think of a barcamp as a kind of unplanned get-together by friends, with similar interests. Good stuff always comes out of such meets.

Barcamps aren't about intense gyan, indepth info, comprehensive knowledge. They are more about "hey, check out this cool stuff and what it can do". Talks aren't planned or scheduled before a barcamp - you go there, decide that you want to talk about something, write it on the whiteboard, pick a slot, and if people are interested in your topic, they sit in, discussions start, and so on.

In order to exceed expectations, you should start with low expectations. :)

What?

Literally - anything. But topics tend to be technology oriented, so if you are a geek, you should feel right at home.
