Last year Chris Schultz brought BarCamp to New Orleans by organizing BarCampNola2008.
By all accounts, the event was a success. We all had a great time, and all year we've been hearing the same questions:
"When's the next BarCamp?"
"When are we getting the techies together again?"
Well, the answer is: July 18th, 2009!
And YOU are invited.
What is BarCamp?
BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.
It is an open event where each attendee is encouraged to participate and present. All content comes from the attendees and each workshop or presentation is scheduled on the day of the event, differentiating it from 'regular' conferences. BarCamp is an 'un-conference'. It is a meeting of the nerds/geeks who exchange information about what they are passionate about and share it with their peers. While it is encouraged to be somewhat technology oriented, all themes are welcome.
If you are new to BarCamp, check out the BarCamp basics links in the sidebar on the right, or see: What is What is BarCamp? What to expect at a BarCamp? The Rules of BarCamp

Any of my proposed workshops can be talkes and vice-versa, depends on group interest
- a) "Zend Framework Intro/Quickstart" - explore using Zend Framework to build applications.
- b) "Transforming from software developer to software engineer/architect." - Understanding the differences, the technical concepts, team workflows, and qualities one should develop.
- c) "PHP Today" - Understand the current state of the language, who uses it, why they use it, the tools available (ecosystem: IDE's, frameworks), where is the PHP community & support structure.
- d) "Terms all developers (and Recruiters) should know before the interview" (Similar to talk (a) but more focused on definitions and in-depth discussion per each one.) What should a developer know- MVC, SVN, IDE, unit testing, design patterns, etc.
- e) "Development Methologies" - An overview of agile practices, and in-depth look at scrum.
- f) "PHP Roundtable" - any questions you have, ask em!

Our Logos
At the last Net2No, there was quite a heated discussion about which logo was a better fit for this year's BarCamp.
Andrew Larimer was kind enough to design our two logo choices this year, both of which include the token BarCamp flame and a symbol of our city. Although we have the snowball at the top of the main page, we still have some time before we have to commit to printing.
Which one do YOU prefer?
Sound off here!
And for the record, Andrew says he has no problem with "bitter, callous dissection and excrement flinging at the expense of my artistry."
