What is it?
BarCamp is an ad-hoc technology un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. The event doesn't cost any money, but there is a price: all attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one.
Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn are welcome and invited to join.
When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers. When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.
When?
Saturday, September 30 - Sunday, October 1, 2006 (with sleepover)
10:00am - 5pm, with dinner to follow on Saturday
Registration starts at 9:30am on Saturday
Where?
Midtown Manhattan near Radio City Music Hall
1290 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10104
Venue Page => Microsoft Office, Interactive Subway Map => MAP
Sounds good to me! What can I do?
I'm still a little unclear...
Imagine a set of rooms with tables, chairs, A/V systems, whiteboards and projectors. Imagine a big, blank schedule board in the common area. Imagine 250 of the most interesting people in the NYC area showing up at 9:30 AM to sign up for a slot on the schedule board to discuss the technology-related topics they are most passionate about. What will the topics be? It depends on who shows up! (Check out the Proposed Sessions list for a preview of the possibilities)
