ChristopherStJohn and Courtney Pulitzer are organizing the Sponsorship process

Sponsors help us provide a great, free event. Last time, we had sponsors pitch in for t-shirts, bkfst, lunch and dinner, drinks, bar tabs, coffee, misc supplies (tape, toiletries, cups, plates, etc.)

Current Status

We have great sponsors lined up but we still need more! Especially to feed 200 energetic attendees.

Putting down a list of all the people who say "No" is probably inappropriate. I'm going to keep a list of potentials, and a list of people who've said yes, and just remove the no's from the potentials list. (You could reverse-engineer out the no's, but it's not immediately obvious)

Sponsors can send money via Paypal to courtney (at) pulitzer (dot) com

Yes

Email outstanding:

  • Mozdex (cks: email bounced)
  • Stormhoek wines (technically, we're after the Aug 9 cutoff) (cks)
  • BackBeat Media
  • PubSub
  • Joyent
  • Schematic
  • Panther Express

People to talk to

(Add your name in parens if you've reached out to someone there)

  • Google (multiple possible contacts, also ref space) (cks: talked to someone who was going to forward me to someone, but haven't heard back. anybody else have a contact?)
  • AIGA (Anders)
  • Zeldman/Happy Cog
  • BWAY.net
  • Pando
  • Razorshark (cks)

Here's the pitch I sent sponsors last time:

Mike did the budget for BarCampNYC 1, and he has a breakdown of what we spent money on here:

Some of those people should be willing to re-up. RedBull has already told Amit they're interested.

Questionable

  • SXSW Interactive Festival is donating a complimentary registration to the 2006 festival. cks: SXSWi is a little far off, any other suggestions?

One of the companies I work for www.Mexuar.com might be interested in sponsoring this event by giving away a fully transferable license for one of their products called Mexuar Corraleta.

This is valued at $US2,000 and my thoughts would be to encourage people to stay to the end on Sunday is to 'draw' the name of an attendee, who must be present at the time in order to receive the sponsorship license.

Due to the specific nature of the product the license would be fully transferable to anyone the winner chooses (eg. They may choose to sell it to a random person…or sell it to a client as part of a web development implementation/sale they make) but it will be identical in all other ways to a license that they will be able to purchase from the website after the October launch at Astricon Dallas.

As this is my first BarCamp I was unsure if this would be a suitable sponsorship (I also need Mexuar to sign off on it but they are waiting for your confirmation first).

Follow these links for more information about Mexuar Corraleta if this is of interest.
