Why
To learn, meet people who share different interests, contribute, and push yourself and your thinking.

~ 8:00am to ~5:00pm
Where
UAT (http://www.uat.edu/)
Tag

How to help
We need to find some sponsors. In particular for lunch, maybe t-shirts and some general swag. We'll also probably have an after party so a sponsor for food and drink there would be helpful as well.
I want to help
Cool! Please send E-mail to: james AT risingtidesoftware DOT com.
You can also help promote Phoenix BarCamp by displaying one of these attractive logos:
The concept of this conference is start with a loose structure and build the topic plan on the day of camp with the people in attendance. The general topics are things to do with the internet or technology, perhaps Web related, but from there it's open. If there's something you'd like to present simply add it to the list, if there's something that you'd like to learn more about add it to the list of suggestions and maybe someone else will pick it up. Basically the idea here is just to collect a bunch of smart people together and allow them to talk about what ever is interesting to them. If you're an expert on something it might make a good topic, as would a simple demo of something cool that you've made.
Let's say you have 8 \'s to spend to indicate topics you will attend - put a "\" next to each one (either scheduled or not) that you want to be a part of.
Proposed Topics
Note that the *actual* topics will be decided at the time of the event by those in attendance. The above list is what people planning on attending have offered to present.
Topics suggested
- Using server virtualization to ease development, testing and production deployment of web applications.
- Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud
- Fringe languages: Io, Haskell, Erlang, etc.
- Current choices in source code repos: svn, darcs, mercurial, git
- Importance of security in web applications.
- Automating web application deployment with Capistrano
- Google BigTable: Distributed storage for structured data
And let's not forget the after party!
