BarCampPortugal

The plan is under way, and the aim is to make it happen on September 2 and 3, 2006. We're aiming for a place near the beach (or with proper pool access for everyone) to take advantage of the sunny mid-summer weather. If you've never been to Portugal, get ready for some California-like weather (which is great, we know). Anyway, make sure you save a couple of days off your summer and come join us.

General Information

Date: 2-3 September

Location: Coimbra, Portugal (Specific venue TBA)

Discussion topics: Web 2.0, Innovation, Demos

Mailing list: http://groups.google.com/group/barcamp-portugal

Getting involved

If you don't know what you can do to help:

  • Join the mailing list and help plan the event
  • Plan a session, workshop or demo (in Portuguese or English)
  • Tell your friends about it so they can do it as well

Organization

Webreakstuff (which is, contrarily to what many people think, a portuguese company) is organizing the event, and looking for sponsors and helpers to curate the event. If you've never been to a BarCamp (or, heck, never heard of it before), see the Rules of BarCamp and get in touch with us by dropping an email at barcamp@webreakstuff.com - we'll get back to you in a snap (no, really).

Speeches and workshops

  • How I learned to stop worrying and love innovation - Fred / Webreakstuff
  • How technology is changing markets - The music industry scenario - Marcos Marado (Presentation in Portuguese)
  • SHiFT presentation - Pedro Custódio
  • Segmentation on a micro screen "building a mobile content search engine" - Umar Akram
