News

• 5/06/07: Donations Optional! This event is going to be fantastic, but we need a little help in the funding department. The response for participation has been much stronger than anticipated, and we're trying to pull together another $150 to cover the difference. This is a completely optional donation, but would be much appreciated. If we received $3 from each participant, this would be more than enough to put us in the black! BarCampRochester2 is a non-profit event.

• 5/05/07: We encourage everyone to bring some snack or drink(non-alcoholic) to share. Homemade snacks get extra stars. :) Show us your culinary skills. Or shopping skills.

• 5/01/07: We have an attendance cap! Based on sponsorship and available space, we are aiming to have 50 participants at the BarCamp. Please ensure that *you are on the wiki with and email address* if you plan to come, it will be the basis for the authoritative attendance list. Click the Edit button at the top of this page to do so - the password is c4mp. Your email address is crucial, as I will be emaililng folks in the days before the event to coordinate and confirm participation. If you'd rather not put your address here, email me at jason dot p dot morrison at gmail dot com. If you have any problems editing the wiki, email me. If there are already 50 people on the list, please sign up anyhow, in case other folks are unable to attend. Also, start thinking about those session topics! :) I can't wait to see this take off!

P.P.S: Heck yeah you heard right, we'll have video coverage for at least one session per block. That means everyone who can't join us in person can later relive some of the BarCampRochester2 excellence through the web!

• 4/21/07: We have a confirmed date & time! 70-2400, 2455, and 2590 are reserved all day on May 12. Also, we are swiftly approaching having a full suite of sponsors. BarCampRochester2 looks good to go -- so tell all your friends!

• 4/17/07: The idea of bringing a loose organization to the sessions through common themes has come up. Two such themes that have come up repeatedly are (1) Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and (2) Digital Content/Design. Would folks like to banner the entire BarCamp under one such theme? Form "tracks" within the un-conference? While I strongly value the ad-hoc nature of a BarCamp, I think that a little organization may help go a long way in forming expectations, giving context, and setting the tone, all in the name of getting higher quality conversations and interactions :) Feedback, please! -Jason

What is BarCamp?

In the spirit of FooCamp, BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.

All attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one. All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall.

Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can't be present.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

NO SPECTATORS, ONLY PARTICIPANTS!

When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers. When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

Who

This is a multi-disciplinary event... meaning that we want designers, developers, marketers, engineers, artists, thinkers and reality-checkers... no more bubbles -- we want cross-pollination! If you want in, like technology, to build things or asking good questions, you should come!
