News

3/28/08 - We're cutting off t-shirts at the first 75 signed up on the wiki. We'll order 75 t-shirts no matter what, but we don't have the funding to produce more than that. So if you're not signed up here, do it now! We've also added the ability to pledge to the event! Please help us cover costs aside from the donations we have received, as food and teeshirts add up to an incredible amount of money (free breakfast, lunch, and dinner? come on!). Please head over to the link posted at the top of this page to toss a few bucks to the event. Remember, this event is what YOU make of it!

2/8/08 - We have a facebook group now. Search BarCampRochester3 and it should hopefully come up. If you don't use facebook don't worry this page will be considered the most up-to-date source of information.

1/30/08 - Welcome to Bar Camp Rochester 3. We had a great time last year with BCR2 and everyones looking forward to another exciting camp. If you have any questions feel free to contact Sela Davis (rune-at-csh-dot-rit-dot-edu) if you have any questions. Otherwise, look for updates here! -Mike Dumont

What is BarCamp?

In the spirit of FooCamp, BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.

All attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one. All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall.

Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can't be present.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

Venture over to the BarcampRochester tag on Flickr for photos from the previous two events!

NO SPECTATORS, ONLY PARTICIPANTS!

When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers. When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world.

You can learn more about BarCamp in this Wired Magazine article. There is another nice article here. Take a look at video summaries from BarCamp SF and BarCamp Austin.

Who

This is a multi-disciplinary event... meaning that we want designers, developers, marketers, engineers, artists, thinkers and reality-checkers... no more bubbles -- we want cross-pollination! If you want in, like technology, to build things or asking good questions, you should come!
