What

 

BarCamp San Diego is an ad-hoc gathering of technical professionals, internet enthusiasts, and others in the San Diego area who wish to share and learn in an open environment.

 

Attendees don't just watch a set list of speakers. They give their own talks. Podcasting. Web standards. Microformats. Gum stick computers. Physical security. Robotics. Evolutionary algorithms. Yoga for programmers. It can be anything.

Barcamp Contest: DefCamp!

Wii Bowling tournament

 

Love Wii Bowling? We're going to be hosting a Wii Bowling tournament on Saturday night at BarCamp. This three-round tournament will pit you against some of San Diego's awesomest people, who may or may not have any Wii Bowling skills whatsoever. It'll be a blast!

Saturday May 3, 2008

  • 9am - Come early to help set up
  • 10am - Registration opens
  • 11am - 12 pm - Opening session & introductions
  • 12pm - 3pm - Sessions in 30 min blocks
  • 3pm - 3:30 pm - Take a break
  • 3:30 pm - 6pm - Sessions in 30 min blocks
  • 6pm - Dinner is served!
  • ~8pm - Party, music, & other activities

 

Sunday May 4, 2008

  • 8am - Breakfast
  • 10am - 1pm - Morning Sessions in 30 min blocks
  • 1pm - Lunch is served!
  • 2pm - 5:30pm - Afternoon sessions in 30 min blocks
  • 5:30pm - Closing session
  • 7pm - Tear down, clean up

 

What to bring

  • Laptop + power cord
  • Sleeping bag + pillow (tent optional)
  • Bean bags, beach chairs, and other fun stuff
  • New ideas, new product demos
  • Cool stuff to share with new friends
  • Extra Wii controllers (for the tournament)
  • Games for the evening
  • Fantasy RpG Games might not be the best idea. Action and strategy games are perfect.

 

Volunteers needed

 

We need your help setting up the rooms and getting the space ready for all the Barcampers who are coming. We're also going to make a big Costco run on Saturday morning, so peeps with Costo cards and/or vehicles would be sweet too!
