The Career Counselor Technology Gathering is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for career counselors to share and learn about new and useful technologies in a flexible environment. It is an interactive and fun learning event with discussions, demos, and contributions from attendees.

Directions to Elon University's School of Communications:

  • Take Interstate 85/40 to Exit 140 (University Drive). From southbound 85/40, exit right and turn right.  From northbound 85/40, exit right and turn left.
  • Turn right onto Boone Station Drive, and then immediately left at St. Mark's Church Road.
  • Follow this road for 1.4 miles. Note the road's name changes to Williamson Avenue after crossing S. Church Street.  You will cross railroad tracks as you enter campus.
  • Make your FIRST RIGHT after crossing the tracks (it is immediately after the tracks) on to Lebanon Rd and park in the parking spots by the railroad tracks

 

Parking:

  • Please park in the parking spots on Lebanon Road by the train tracks. If those spots are full, you can park in the McEwen (School of COM) parking lot.
  • The School of Communications is building #8 on this map 
  • If you have any parking problem, call Ross Wade at 919-274-3742 (mobile number)

 

Hotel:

  • Acorn Inn (right down the road from Elon University)
  • Comfort Inn (close to Elon University and 85/40)

  • “cool stuff”, each participant presents one (***in order to manage time effectively and reduce multiple setups, be prepared to use an already set up PC laptop OR bring in screen shots on a thumb drive***).

12-1:30

  • lunch is unstructured, information on walkable (or close-to-drive) locations will be provided

1:30-4

  • as a group, determine afternoon conversation topics & schedule
  • reconvene, share highlights
  • how do we keep the community going?

4:30-?

  • Grab a drink and/or some food and continue the conversation with the group! Folks can meet up at the local Olive Garden (close to 85/40)
