I'll compare two technology paths: Ruby on Rails as mostly "pay later" in terms of various scaling costs vs. erlang as a "pay now" solution. The erlang community has been working on new libraries/frameworks to reduce the "pay now" effect for web app development..I would like to show some of these techniques at BarCamp Shanghai. 2 - the other topic is I "might" get to let the world take its first peek at what I've been developing the past 2 years...
