To bring together interesting people in the IT, media, energy, bio-tech and other sectors to share ideas in an collegial atmosphere of unabashed geekery.

What will happen at the BarCamp?
"BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees."
Barcamps usually features multiple sessions running simultaneously at a venue. Most of the time, the sessions are also decided by popular vote. The participants turn up at the venue in the morning and whoever wants to presen puts up their topic on a board or a wall.

Your session may be a presentation, a discussion, a demo etc. Each session has 30 minutes. We recommend you present for 15 minutes and leave the 15 minutes for Q&A. As a courtesy to the next presenter, make sure that you finish the session within your allocated time. All the presentation venues (we have 5 rooms) have wi-fi and projector. There are ample power points around and event the participants for your session can use their computers.
We also have 3 smaller open areas outside with power and wi-fi but no projector that can be used to run software demos and smaller sessions.

If a participant wants to attend your session, they will vote for your session with a mark on the paper. You can do the same for the sessions you want to attend. Topics with the most votes get selected and they are assigned rooms and time slots. Different rooms have different sizes, so a popular session may be moved to a larger room.
Though not compulsory, all participants are encouraged to give a demo, lead a session, or help out generally. We will repeat the voting during the lunch break for the afternoon sessions.
Regarding session scheduling: this time in Singapore, we are trying an hybrid approach. We are letting about 50% of the session to be pre-registered. Some presenters have already registered via the "Speaker Registration" form. UPDATE. 20/02/2009 Please note that all our pre-allocated slots are booked. We will slot you in if any of the existing speakers cancel. Your session will also be put up for audience votes at the venue and you might still get a chance to present.
