What I liked

  • The food. Amazing!! Thank you, sponsors! You rock, Rancho Relaxo!
  • I attended 3 sessions, I really got a lot out of them, discussion was very lively, lots of participation, great insights, current thoughts and practices shared
  • I liked the chance to talk and network with participants in a very relaxed atmosphere, it was nice to be able to talk with Albert Lai one on one and hear his thoughts about venture capital, it was great to be able to chat with Tara Hunt and hear how her Pinko Marketing manifesto is coming along, it was great to see David Crowe recovering in the morning after a night out and have a coherent converstaion with him.
  • A chance to meet people face to face who you have been having online email exchanges with
  • endless supply of soft drinks, water, and snacks
  • oh and don't forget the beer! I really enjoyed that

What I didn't like

  • Hard to hear.
  • Make that: really Hard to hear. I went hoarse by noon. Oh well! :-)
  • Got lost trying to get into the building.
  • people who sign up on wiki but don't show up
  • a session where the leader talked almost nonstop for a half hour

Ideas to make it better

  • Go to a carpet outlet and borrow some giant scraps of carpet to hang from the ceiling. We would return them to the store afterwards. The green tarps were nice for some visual separation, but that space needed serious noise-damping.
  • Have signs on the other entrances to the building posted (at the start of the day) on the other entrances to the building to help the people who didn't have exact directions. It was disconcerting finding TWO entrances that both said "171 Liberty East" in giant letters, and neither one had any hints as to where BarCamp might be.
  • Help people understand how simple it is to lead a session: it can be as easy as arriving with a burning question and reserving a space to discuss it!
  • Have people announce their topics out loud for the whole group at the beginning - not everyone understood the cryptic schedule items, which left some of us on the outside.

Other stuff?
