BarCampVancouver will be part of BarCampEarth (check out the event listing on upcoming) August 25-27, 2006

This is a barebones placeholder page which will be considerably enhanced later!

Sponsors

Price of sponsorship TBD (of course the event itself is free!). We are looking to get sponsors for the venue, food, etc.

If you're interested in sponsoring check out the SponsorPage

Venue

We are looking for a venue. It must hold 50+ people and have WiFi or a fast internet connection and we'll bring Linksys and Airport express routers. Leave your name here or email the mailing list if you know of a suitable venue.

What is BarCamp

(As stolen from BarCampNYC and BarCampLosAngeles, as copied from BarCampSanDiego) BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

All attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one. All presentions are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, but come early to get a slot on the wall.

Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of their presentations are published on the web for the benefit of all and those who can’t be present.

Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

Organizers

Andre Charland - Over committed but I've been to few of these now and am super stoked we're having one in Vancity!

Roland Tanglao - Yes! After all how hard can it be? Can't be any harder than MooseCamp or BarCampAmsterdam both of which I somehow got roped into help organize! :-) !

Zak Greant - How Hard Can It Be (TM)? I am overcommitted as well, but I can't resist. :)

James Sherrett - (contrarian) This is gonna be really hard, a lot of hard work, and I'll have to sit on a hard chair. Looking forward to it!

Darren Barefoot - I walked into the Bryght offices at the wrong time and got recruited. D'oh.

Kris Krug - I'll help out.

Mike Cantelon - I'm not actually going to be in town in August, but I can help with spreading the word and with any needed infrastructure development (presenter registration, etc.) if need be.

Bryan Rieger - Sounds interesting, like everyone else time is scarce. I'll help out where I can.
