BarCampVancouver 2008 Planning

 

First Planning Session on Thursday, July 10

 

This page is intended for use by everyone involved in planning the upcoming BarCampVancouver2008. Make any appropriate changes. Happy editing!

 

 

Date: September 27th (preferred) / Slight Possibility: Sept 13th

 

Number of projected attendees (based on last year + new) 200-225

Venues should have 5-6 rooms (for the camp itself) (Minimum of 4)

 

 

Brainstorming on Venues: (Jordan and Megan scouting and sussing out, DB looking into theatre space)

  • Has it overgrown Workspace? - I think it may have.
  • UBC Robson Square - will call
  • Business Objects
  • Electronic Arts - will check with them
  • Wask Centre for Dialogue - will call
  • SFU Harbour Centre - will call
  • BCIT Downtown campus - will call
  • Centre for Digital Media - The Hangar - nope - they do not want out-of-house events booking in any more. not well equipped for it.
  • Emily Carr - being used for New Forms Festival, but would be great to be in a space of their properties as well.
  • Arts Club Theatre - love GI locale
  • Playwright Theatre Club - love GI locale
  • False Creek Community Centre - love GI locale
  • Granville Island Brew Pub - Meg has a connection there - maybe not for right for this/don't know space well, will discuss with JB
  • Vancouver Public Library - will call
  • Van City
  • Vancity Film Centre
  • Scotiabank Theatre

We will use EventBrite for tickets

Budget was $6500 (1300 sponsors)
