Directions to WineCamp Calaveras
| Friday Night Campers: Meet in the parking lot behind and near the rear door, of Alchemy Market and Wine Bar in Murphy's (191 main street Murphy's) at 7:00 p.m anyone who wants to drive onto the property and camp on Friday night. This will give those individuals time to set up tents and designate the dinning and sleeping areas. |
The Vineyard Location
The vineyards / camping site, while very aesthetically pleasing, is a remote and rustic location on top of a small mountain with grass and oak trees. The views are great and the road up to the top is level; however the plan is to shuttle people up via gondola ride. This is the real deal, after all!
Just to set your expectations, there's nothing terribly fancy out there... no gold-plated showers or bronze power outlets. However, you will be able to enjoy the simplicity of cool and quiet places to eat, sit and chat, with stone and rough wood benches and tables, and, of course, myriad fire circles.
Getting there on Saturday
- Take Parrots Ferry road from Highway 4 between Angels Camp and Murphy's going toward Sonora.
- Drive approximately 10 minutes and look for the signs that read. Natural Bridges State Park.
- The entrance to the vineyard property is the first and only turn 100 yards past the second Natural Bridges State Park sign, Old Airola Road.
- If you come to a large bridge you just passed the entrance which is a simple red cattle gate. THIS GATE HAS TO BE SHUT (Please make sure it's shut tight, because we all love the neighbors cattle -- the be inside the gate!)
- The vineyard is located about 1.5 miles down the gravel road. It's the first vineyard on the right hand side of the road with a white iron gate and Cyprus trees.
Parking for cars will be in the open area just past the entrance off to the right. The camping location is all the way up the top of the hill overlooking the vineyard and lake.
So we're planning to meet at 7pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday at the parking lot behind Alchemy Market, and follow the leader into the vineyards.
