Background

Hi, I'm Noel Hidalgo and i'm an avid drupal user/political organizer/mechanic/attendie of unconferences. Last year we had a DIY Drupal/CivicSpace day after the Personal Democracy Conference (PDF). This year we are fortunate to have a whole weekend before the PDF to plan a similar event.

Event Info

13 - 14 May 2006

the weekend before the personal democracy forum; yes, i know it's mother's day weekend.

My goal is to foster the following...

  1. Drupal Users - two days masticating on drupal (tracks: new users, theme dev, module conversion/creation, civicrm best practices, massmailing, etc.)
  2. Barn Raising - (born of an email from Dan Robinson) take a .org that needs a new website and build it
  3. Political Bloggers - a forum for NYC political bloggers to connect and discuss issues/business issues

I hope this will be an open and collaborative session involving many types of drupal users, poli-pundants and community activists.

What to do

  1. trainers - people who are willing to lead course sessions.
  2. promotions - to spam all drupal/civicspace users who live in the NYC area or on east coast and anyone attending the PDF
  3. find individual and organizational sponsors
  4. find location - we are looking for space in manhattan or brooklyn. Using Amit's template space requirements are - At least 3-4 medium-sized rooms appropriate for discussions or presentations, One or two large gathering spaces, At least two bathrooms, At least one shower, The ability to house 100 people during the day, and 50 people overnight, Internet access, Free use of the site for an entire weekend, easily accessibly by subway, kitchen
  5. add your item here ;)
