DrupalCampNYC4 will be Saturday March 29th AND Sunday, March 30th, 2008 at Polytechnic University.

Saturday - Introduction to Drupal Session

Saturday at Drupal Camp will mostly be for advanced Drupal folk working on code. However this session is purely for people new to Drupal.

This 4 - 6 hr session will teach you how to install, set up and manage a Drupal-based website. You do not need any programming or web design knowledge, but you should be comfortable with using a computer!

The session will cover:

  1. Installing Drupal (locally, on your own computer)
  2. Basic Configuration
  3. Using Drupal 'out of the box'
  4. Installing Modules
  5. Using CCK
  6. Using Views

This will give you a solid grounding in Drupal, and will let you get a lot more out of the sessions on the second day of the Drupal Camp. If you are unable to attend this session there will be a shorter introductory session on the Sunday from Sam Tresler.

How to prepare:

  1. If you bring a laptop (with power cord and extension cable) you can install Drupal on your computer and follow along with the set up. This is recommended as it means that you'll have something to play with when you've finished the session
  2. Download some software
    1. For Macs download MAMP
    2. For Windows download XAMPP

Sign up for this session by adding your name below.

There is a 40 person limit for this session. Remember to sign up for the Drupal Camp at the attendees page.
