Schedule

Below a rough outline of our schedule. Sessions run about 45-1 hour with 15 minutes to mingle between sessions.

 

07:00 am to 08:00 am Organizer/Volunteer Setup    
08:00 am to 09:00 am Breakfast We encourage people to talk and mingle. This would be a great time for people to gather some thoughts on sessions they want to host.  
09:00 am to 10:15 am Opening, attendee introductions, schedule planning Please try to be on time if you can. ;-)  
10:30 am to 11:15 am Session 1 (45 min.)    
11:30 am to 12:15 pm Session 2 (45 min.)    
12:15 pm to 01:15 pm Lunch There's always room for "Birds of a Feather" or a working lunch here. Feel free!  
01:15 pm to 02:15 pm Session 3 (60 min.)    
02:30 pm to 03:30 pm Session 4 (60 min.)    
04:00 pm to 04:30 pm Closing remarks We'll collect feedback, next steps etc. here  
05:00 pm Happy Hour Meet us at McFadden's Restaurant-Saloon (only a few blocks away from IPDI/GWU)

  • Learn about what PBS is doing to spur civic engagement, and let's generate some new ideas together (Jonathan Coffman, PBS.org)
  • Web-based direct democracy and/or deliberation projects: Panel (and audience) discussion exploring internet-based innovations in direct citizen involvement in decision-making (Ed Pastore, Metagovernment; others welcome to add names here)
  • OpenDialog, using MIT's Simile graphics such as Timelines/Maps/Scattergraphs/etc to be populated with content from groups and individuals publishing on their own web sites and blogs using the lightweight Open Public Integrated Architecture (AKA ConnectedConversations). see Dazza Greenwood and Daniel Bennett.
